This large, flexible space within Bunjilaka Aboriginal Cultural Centre, dedicated to Victoria’s Indigenous peoples, is named after the Boon Wurrung and Woi Wurrung word for the Yarra River. Like the body of water, the design is open and fluid, following a curving hand-carved zinc wall – always hung with changing exhibitions of local Indigenous art – and a unique ceiling design that recalls gentle ripples.
Just outside Birrarung’s double doors is beautiful Milarri Garden, where guests can mingle and take in the incredible landscape of Aboriginal plants that have been vital to 40,000 years of our country’s First Peoples. We can also organise a traditional Welcome to Country or performance for your event, as well as private viewings of our First Peoples exhibition.
