Filming and photography at Melbourne Museum

Melbourne Museum is a multi-award winning example of local architecture that has featured in many film projects, from Hollywood movies and overseas TV series to locally produced fashion shoots. The building’s large scale, its interaction with the natural surroundings, and composition of varied forms, materials and textures provides a great range of unique backdrops.

Talk to us about the choices available of eight galleries and the vast plaza connecting the Museum with the Royal Exhibition Building. We also have plenty of space for unit base parking – with 1710sqm you and your whole crew should have all the room you need! Daily rates do apply.

Filming and photography at Scienceworks

Scienceworks has hosted many film crews! The Pumping Station is an important symbol of Melbourne’s transformation into a modern city and has been heritage-listed as an extraordinary example of late French Empire industrial architectural style. It has a long and interesting story as a site for film shoots and is probably most widely recognised as a setting in the original Mad Max film, and more recently in the beloved Australian television series, Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries.

We love to see our spaces in movies and as backdrops for photoshoots! If you work in film and TV, the fashion industry or have any interest in Museum Spaces as a location, we definitely welcome you to get in touch. Our spaces have been featured in myriad settings – let us walk you through how we can help make your project happen.

Filming and photography at Immigration Museum

The Immigration Museum is rich with stories of Melbourne’s history. As Old Customs House it was the hub of commerce, trade and migration, and the building itself is a fine example of Victorian architecture. Our internal spaces have been used in many different ways – you’re welcome to let your imagination run wild!

If you are interested in the Immigration Museum, either inside or outdoors, as a setting or backdrop for TV, film or another project, please feel free to get in touch to discuss the options. Filming and photography at Royal Exhibition Building

The historical and cultural significance that you can see and feel at the World Heritage listed Royal Exhibition Building and Carlton Gardens lends is useful for all kinds of visual projects. The period architecture – a fascinating 19th century blend of a range of era styles – is an overall feature in itself and the beautifully restored components can be utilised individually. After a majestic dome, bluestone details or a flowing fountain in a formal, palatial garden? Or perhaps a grand mezzanine overlooking vast timber floors, with sun streaming through fanlight windows? There’s so much that can be done here, so we’d love to show you around!

We are equipped with enough room for unit bases and parking, are situated within walking distance to the CBD and are well-versed in large-scale event planning and coordination.
